President Donald Trump and Elon Musk reignited their public feud over the weekend as the Senate pushed forward on what Trump has labeled the “Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping reconciliation measure aimed at economic reform and tax relief, as reported by The Western Journal.

The renewed clash between the commander-in-chief and the billionaire tech mogul unfolded on social media, while lawmakers continued voting on amendments in an all-night session intended to advance the legislation before the July 4 deadline.

The dispute began after Musk posted several critical messages on X, targeting the bill’s spending provisions.

He claimed the measure would drive the national debt up by $5 trillion and sarcastically referred to the U.S. as being governed by the “PORKY PIG PARTY.” He also floated the idea of forming a new political party if the Republican Party did not commit to serious fiscal discipline.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country — the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk posted.

President Trump responded to Musk's remarks with a pointed post on Truth Social, suggesting that Musk's complaints stemmed from provisions in the bill that roll back electric vehicle mandates.

“Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate,” Trump wrote. “It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one.”

Trump also criticized the extent of federal subsidies Musk’s companies have received.

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” Trump stated.

“No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”

The back-and-forth came as senators worked through a marathon voting session on the bill, which is expected to reach President Trump’s desk by Independence Day.

Trump has framed the legislation as central to his economic recovery agenda, highlighting its tax benefits for working Americans, elimination of EV mandates, and streamlining of federal spending priorities.

The bill has become a lightning rod in Washington, drawing praise from Republican leadership while stirring debate among more libertarian voices concerned about spending.

Musk, known for his maverick public commentary and shifting political affiliations, has not formally announced any plans for a third party but has increasingly criticized both major parties in recent months.

Despite prior moments of public alignment — including Musk’s past endorsement of Trump — the two have frequently clashed over government funding, regulatory policies, and national priorities.

Their latest exchange underscores growing tensions within the conservative movement as it balances pro-business goals with anti-subsidy sentiments.

While the bill remains on track for passage, the public spat between Trump and Musk has added an unexpected twist to the legislative push, drawing widespread media attention away from the policy content of the bill and toward the personalities shaping its narrative.
