Vice President JD Vance announced Sunday that he will host The Charlie Kirk Show from the White House on Monday as a tribute to his late friend, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated by a sniper while speaking at Utah Valley University last Wednesday.
Following the attack, Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, traveled to Salt Lake City to meet with Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, and accompanied Kirk’s casket back to his home state aboard Air Force Two.

Vance also published a lengthy statement on X reflecting on his friendship with Kirk. He recalled their first encounter in 2017 after an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News program, when Kirk sent him a direct message praising his performance.
According to Vance, that exchange marked the beginning of a close relationship.
“Charlie was fascinated by ideas and always willing to learn and change his mind. Like me, he was skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016. Like me, he came to see President Trump as the only figure capable of moving American politics away from the globalism that had dominated for our entire lives,” Vance wrote.

Vance credited Kirk with playing a pivotal role in his rise to national politics, including his 2021 Senate campaign and eventual vice presidential nomination.
He noted that Kirk connected him to Donald Trump Jr. and key donors, as well as organizing Turning Point USA events that became important to his political career.

“When I became the VP nominee—something Charlie advocated for both in public and private—Charlie was there for me,” Vance wrote. “Some of our most successful events were organized not by the campaign, but by TPUSA.”
Vance also highlighted Kirk’s devotion to his Christian faith, his role as a family man, and his commitment to public debate.
“Someone else pointed out that Charlie died doing what he loved: discussing ideas,” Vance said, noting that Kirk welcomed questions even from critics at public events.
A while ago, probably in 2017, I appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox show to talk about God knows what. Afterwards a name I barely knew sent me a DM on twitter and told me I did a great job. It was Charlie Kirk, and that moment of kindness began a friendship that lasted until today.…

President Donald Trump also offered condolences, telling Vance that Kirk was “a very good friend” and that “Charlie really loved his family.”
Vance said Kirk was proud of his wife, Erika, and their two children, and described him as “a true friend” trusted by people at the highest levels of government.
The Vice President will use Monday’s program to honor Kirk’s legacy and his impact on the conservative movement.
