David Dutch, a US Marine veteran, was identified as one of the two spectators injured in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a Butler, Pennsylvania, campaign rally on Saturday.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire at the rally, shot Donald Trump in the ear, killed Corey Comperatore, and injured Dutch and James Copenhaver, a 74-year-old Trump supporter.

MCL District 8 Vice Commandant Matt Popovich confirmed the identity of Dutch:

“It is with great sadness that I report that one of the civilians shot at the rally was one of our own…Commandant David Dutch of Westmorland County is in critical condition, shot in the liver and chest… He has had one surgery and undergoing another this morning. He is currently in an induced coma.” – Matt Popovich

Dutch, who is in an induced coma, underwent surgery on Sunday morning and was again operated on.

He is known for being the commandant of the Westmoreland County Marines Corps League Detachment No. 1416 last year, as reported by TribLIVE.

Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former chief of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company and a father of two, was identified as the Trump supporter killed by Crooks on Saturday.

He died protecting his wife and daughter from the gunfire, according to his family.

Pennsylvania State Police Col. Christopher Paris revealed that both Dutch and Copenhaver are in stable condition.
