The Minneapolis Police Department made public on Friday the video footage of the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Michael Warren Ristow that transpired earlier in June.
Several clips were disclosed, featuring the three officers involved in the incident – Officer Chaz Wilson, Officer Enoch Langford, and Officer Abdirizaq Mumin. Additionally, edited versions of Officer Langford and Officer Mumin’s bodycam footage were released.
The confrontation unfolded as police were responding to reports of an armed person in the area around the 3000 block of 29th Avenue South and the 3400 block of Hiawatha Avenue South.

The MPD also unveiled bodycam footage from the May 30 mass shooting that resulted in the death of Officer Jamal Mitchell. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) would provide further details on the incidents in the future.
The footage commenced at approximately 9:29 p.m. on June 12 as police arrived at the scene. In Wilson’s bodycam footage, he can be seen exiting the driver’s seat and initiating a pursuit on foot, armed with his firearm while yelling “Police, get on the ground… drop the gun.”

Approaching a parked van, Ristow instructs the responding officers to “Get away from me.” Wilson demands that Ristow drop the gun, to which the latter responds with “Get away,” before shots are fired. Wilson ends up on the ground, and a fellow officer inquires about his well-being.
The second video, from Officer Langford’s bodycam, captures him exiting the patrol car and chasing after the suspect, yelling, “Stop, you’re under arrest. Stop. Stop.”
As he nears the suspect close to a fence, Langford repeatedly instructs Ristow to drop the gun before firing multiple rounds.
Ristow is heard saying “Ah, it hurts” after the shots were fired.
Officers caution Ristow not to reach for the gun, and Langford retrieves the firearm, repeatedly proclaiming, “I got it!” Officer Mumin proceeds to handcuff Ristow, according to his bodycam footage.
An edited and slowed-down version of the bodycam footage focuses on the suspect carrying what police identified as a handgun, which had reportedly jammed.
“All three officers fired, striking Ristow,” as previously stated by the BCA. Ristow succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, and none of the officers sustained any injuries.
