In recent reports from Reuters, it has been revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is advocating for a ceasefire in Ukraine along the current battle lines. However, Putin’s willingness to continue the fight remains contingent on the Western response to his proposed peace agreement.

Sources familiar with discussions within Putin’s inner circle disclose his frustration with what he perceives as Western-backed obstacles hindering negotiations. Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s decision to rule out talks has further exacerbated tensions.

“Putin can fight for as long as it takes, but Putin is also ready for a ceasefire – to freeze the war,” states a senior Russian source who possesses direct knowledge of high-level conversations in the Kremlin.

The recent appointment of economist Andrei Belousov as Russia’s defense minister has prompted speculation among Western military and political analysts that the Russian economy is preparing for a prolonged conflict. However, sources suggest that Putin, in his newly elected six-year term, is more inclined to utilize Russia’s current momentum to seek an end to the ongoing war.

While the sources do not directly address the new defense minister, they convey that Putin believes the gains achieved thus far are sufficient to depict a victorious outcome to the Russian public.

Notably, any potential ceasefire agreement is likely to require the United States’ support. A representative from the State Department emphasized that any peace deal must uphold Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

“The Kremlin has yet to demonstrate any meaningful interest in ending its war, quite the opposite,” the spokesperson expressed.

In light of recent developments, the U.S. Congress has approved over $60 billion in military aid to Ukraine. This aid aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities and sustain the conflict despite the inherent risks of escalation between the world’s major nuclear powers.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dispatched a delegation to Washington to demand the Biden regime reverse its ban on firing U.S. missiles on Russian territory. Ukrainian MP David Arahamiya, who led the delegation, highlighted that this request originated directly from the country’s military leaders.

Arahamiya drew a comparison, stating, “It’s like if somebody were to attack Washington, D.C., from the Virginia state, and you say we’re not going to hit Virginia for some reason. It’s crazy. Military people, like generals, they don’t understand. So they are pushing us as politicians, like stop (the policy) this is insane.”

As the situation in Ukraine continues to unfold, the global community closely watches the developments and their potential impact on regional stability. The push for a ceasefire by President Putin in the face of Western opposition adds another layer of complexity to an already complex situation.
