President Donald Trump has officially nominated Lance Schroyer, a former Marine and seasoned law enforcement officer from Oklahoma, to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump hailed Schroyer as a tough patriot who knows how to crack down on illegal immigration and restore law and order to America’s borders.

Trump urged the Senate to confirm his pick without delay, warning that the stakes for national security have never been higher.

He praised Schroyer’s thirty years of service in law enforcement, including his time as an Oklahoma State Trooper and his strong partnership with federal agencies through the 287g program, which empowers local police to cooperate directly with ICE in removing criminal aliens.

Schroyer’s nomination marks yet another move by Trump to fill key homeland security positions with experienced hands who are committed to enforcing the law, not rewriting it.

His background as a Marine and front-line officer has won him strong support from rank-and-file border agents and local sheriffs who have called for tougher immigration enforcement for years.

In his announcement, Trump declared, “I am very pleased to announce that I have nominated Lance Schroyer to be our next ICE Director. Lance has over 29 YEARS of Law Enforcement experience in Oklahoma, a state where I won all 77 counties in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Lance is a former Oklahoma State Trooper and United States Marine. He is a patriot with real operational experience and a proven leader.”

Trump added that Schroyer has “firsthand experience getting illegal aliens off our streets” and described him as a man “with what it takes to detain and deport illegal alien criminals, including murderers, rapists, and drug traffickers, at a rate never seen before.”

He reminded followers that his administration holds the record for the highest daily arrest rate by ICE and Customs and Border Protection, a clear contrast to the weak border enforcement under previous Democrat administrations.

The nomination immediately drew praise from Trump allies across the country.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin called Schroyer “a great pick” and said he represents “exactly the kind of leadership ICE needs in this critical moment.”

Mullin and Schroyer both hail from Oklahoma and have worked together on law enforcement initiatives aimed at fighting human trafficking and drug smuggling across state lines.

Currently, David Venturella is serving as acting director of ICE, stepping in after former director Todd Lyons resigned in May.

Venturella, a longtime ICE official, will continue to oversee operations until the Senate confirms Schroyer’s appointment.

Supporters of Trump’s nomination say Schroyer’s track record proves he will bring a no-nonsense approach to the office.

They highlight his extensive experience in operations that target violent offenders and transnational gangs, as well as his deep respect among agents who have grown frustrated with Washington politicians who misuse ICE for political games rather than public safety.

Within conservative circles, Schroyer’s nomination is viewed as another step in rebuilding a once demoralized agency.

Many rank-and-file officers left or retired early during the weak border years of the Biden administration, when ICE agents were instructed to pull back from enforcement and avoid deportation orders for even serious offenders.

Trump’s call to “Make America Safe Again” through Schroyer’s appointment signals a clear return to aggressive border enforcement.

His administration has promised to reestablish successful policies like “Remain in Mexico” and end blanket parole programs that effectively wave illegal entrants through without court dates.

Critics on the left have already begun their predictable outrage, attacking the nomination as another sign that Trump is serious about cracking down on illegal immigration.

But supporters argue that is precisely the point. America’s border crisis has reached historic levels, with millions of illegal crossings, massive fentanyl inflows, and record numbers of criminal reentries.

Conservatives say those realities demand leadership that will act decisively, not issue press releases filled with excuses.

With the Senate now tasked with reviewing Schroyer’s nomination, attention turns to whether Democrats will attempt to stall another Trump pick for political theater.

Many conservatives expect resistance from Senate Democrats who spent years dismantling immigration enforcement policies that worked, preferring open-border narratives over national security and community safety.

For Trump supporters, Schroyer represents all the right credentials rolled into one package: battle-tested Marine, experienced lawman, and unwavering patriot.

His allies say he embodies the same grit that fueled Trump’s 2024 comeback and resonates deeply with Americans who believe their government should protect them first.

If confirmed, Schroyer will oversee one of the most complex enforcement networks in the federal system.

Conservatives see his selection as a signal that the days of politically neutered border agencies are finally over.

Trump’s message to the Senate was unmistakable: confirm Schroyer immediately and get ICE back to doing what it does best, protecting Americans from criminal aliens.
