Conservative commentator Benny Johnson shared a personal story about Charlie Kirk during a Fox News segment, recounting how the Turning Point USA founder provided refuge for his family during a time of crisis.
Johnson described Kirk’s actions as selfless and said they illustrated the impact he had on countless lives across the country.
“Charlie Kirk is somebody who, the year after that, provided something that I will never forget, and a story that I have never told anyone,” Johnson said.
“Laura and I will tell you right now, there was a horrific fire on my block in Washington, DC, right after a mass shooting. When DC defunded their police, we had just brought home our newborn baby and the lives of my wife and my newborn child was under threat, and we felt horribly vulnerable, and we felt truly like we had nowhere to go. Charlie Kirk allowed me and my wife and my family, my young family, to stay in his condo here in Florida and to search for a new home to have refuge and shelter when our home had been horribly fire damaged and when bullets rang out on my block that could have struck my family. And Charlie was there for us, and he never asked for anything in return.”

Johnson credited Kirk’s generosity with influencing the course of his own family’s life.
“This is why, in fact, I live in Florida, my family has quintupled since then, in children and in blessings, and it’s because of Charlie extrapolate that to 10s of, if not hundreds of millions of young lives who Charlie has affected,” Johnson said.
He described Kirk as one of the most powerful advocates for the American Dream in modern history.
“And you what you are seeing on your screen right now is perhaps the single most effective spokesperson for the American Dream that we’ve ever seen or witnessed in our lives. It’s why he is an American martyr and a Christian martyr, and we will continue his work. God Benny, both of you. Thank you so much.”
