An active shooter opened fire Wednesday morning at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis, leaving at least two people dead and as many as 20 victims total, according to law enforcement, as reported by The New York Post.

The shooting began shortly after 8:15 a.m., just two days after students had returned for the first week of the school year. Police and first responders swarmed the area surrounding the church and school at 8:30 a.m. after receiving reports of heavy gunfire.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to The New York Post that a male gunman was later found dead. The suspect was described by the Richfield Police Department as “a man dressed in all black and armed with a rifle.” Officials said he is “no longer a threat.”

According to a parent who was inside the church at the time, the shooter targeted students during morning Mass.
