Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, now rebranded as X, has drastically altered the platform’s user demographics and political alignment, as well as bolstered Musk’s personal wealth.

CNN’s Harry Enten recently highlighted the significant changes Musk has brought to the social media giant, noting its transformation to align more closely with Musk’s political vision and the broader electorate.

“So the reason, one of the big reasons he bought Twitter slash X, is because he wanted to make it his own platform, remake it in his own image,” Enten explained.

This shift is evident in the platform’s changing political makeup. In 2022, 65% of Twitter users who relied on the platform for news identified as Democrats, compared to just 31% who identified as Republicans.

"Look at this," Enten said, pointing to recent data. "Now it’s basically split between Democrats at 48%, Republicans at 47%. And what I should note... is this. Now this new overall makeup matches the overall electorate far better.”

The shift reflects Musk’s efforts to create a platform that mirrors his political instincts and personal views, Enten suggested.

While Musk’s moves with X have sparked controversy and polarized opinions, the platform’s new balance of political affiliations demonstrates a stark departure from its earlier left-leaning user base.

Enten also highlighted the financial impact of Musk’s leadership. "Look at where Mr. Musk's net worth is today versus where it was just two months ago," Enten said.

"He is the richest man in the world by far."

Musk’s wealth has surged from $252 billion two months ago to an astonishing $314 billion today, cementing his status as the wealthiest person in history.

Enten noted, “Yes, he’s not as popular. Yes, Twitter slash X, perhaps is not as popular, but it’s a much different platform, one that more represents Elon Musk, let’s say political instincts, and he is now a far wealthier man.”

Musk’s influence over X extends beyond finances and user demographics.

His hands-on approach to reshaping the platform has made it a more politically balanced space, though critics argue that his changes have alienated some users and advertisers.

Despite these challenges, Musk’s vision for X has solidified its role as a platform more reflective of his ideals and the broader political spectrum of the electorate.
