MSNBC host Joy Reid delivered a scathing critique of authoritarian ideologies during a recent segment on her show, focusing on issues of systemic racism, mass deportations, LGBTQ+ rights, and the influence of high-profile figures like Elon Musk.
Reid also highlighted what she sees as hypocrisy within the political system, particularly regarding Joe Biden’s ability to engage with former President Donald Trump despite their political differences.
Reid began her remarks by criticizing what she described as a core feature of authoritarian regimes: the elevation of unqualified individuals over those with expertise, particularly when racial and gender biases are at play.
“It is a common feature of authoritarianism and fascism that the nation is called to come together under the autocrat and accept that his incompetent lackeys are our betters,” Reid said.

“The idea that any random white guy or right-thinking woman with zero background is inherently superior to any Black person or woman, no matter how many degrees or qualifications they have, is a conceit of fascism and ethnonationalism that no, we cannot come together around.”
Reid also rejected calls for mass deportations and policies excluding LGBTQ+ individuals from military service, emphasizing the divisiveness of such proposals.
“We cannot come together around mass deporting millions of immigrants and potentially separating families or throwing them into internment camps,” she said. “We can’t come together around kicking women or gay, bi, or trans people out of the military just because Macho Man weekend TV guys said so.”
Reid took aim at tech billionaire Elon Musk, accusing him of fostering an environment of hate and influencing political outcomes through his platform, X (formerly Twitter).

“We cannot come together around Elon Musk, who runs an app infused with racism and misogyny and gamed that app to sway an election and now essentially co-owns a president alongside Vladimir Putin,” Reid said.
Turning to President Joe Biden, Reid pointed out what she considers an unequal application of privilege in American politics. She highlighted Biden’s ability to engage with Trump, who Reid criticized for his controversial rhetoric and actions.
“Joe Biden is perfectly free to come together with Trump and the people who literally, three days ago, were calling him every name in the book because he is the president and therefore immune from prosecution by our soon-to-be autocrat under John Roberts Rules for American kings,” she said.
“So he has the privilege of coming together with the guy who quoted Hitler on his way back to the White House. Some of us do not have the privilege to come together around that.”

Her criticism reflects frustration among progressive voices with perceived double standards and the normalization of certain ideologies in public discourse.
Reid’s segment illustrates the challenges of finding common ground in a deeply divided nation, as issues of race, gender, and political power continue to fuel contentious debates.

DEPORT!
Exactly!!!!
When will she be taken off the air? Not soon enough. Talk about the party of hatred- the left is everything they accuse the right of being.
Joy, just get the hell out of our country. You don’t like it and we don’t like you.
Democrats were never for unity, they are funning the flames of divisiveness. In old times, they were segregating blacks, this time they are trying to segregate white people. When Democrats were in power, they tried to blame Republican for their own failures in economy, international affairs, and in cultural wars. When they lost, they are trying to throw every wrench into wheels to stop Republicans from succeeding in their mission to Make America Great Again.
She is the epitome of hate and racism against whites! Why is she allowed to spew this anti-American hatred on air?? Get rid of her and life will be much better for mankind!!
Why isn’t she off the air????? She is continually calling 86% of the country fascists!!!!!
