“Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader!” Musk posted on X, underscoring his backing of the Florida senator for the powerful leadership role.

Scott’s post came as a response to Trump, who emphasized the need for quick action on confirmations.

Trump wrote, “Any Republican Senator” seeking the role of Senate Majority Leader “must agree to Recess Appointments,” stressing that without this approach, confirmations could be significantly delayed.

Trump noted that confirmation votes “can take two years, or more,” referencing obstacles faced in previous appointments, and insisted that “we need positions filled IMMEDIATELY!” He also urged Republicans to block any Democratic judicial nominees during the transition period until Republican leadership is firmly in place.

As Scott’s name gains traction, other Republicans have also emerged as contenders for the role of Senate Majority Leader. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and John Thune (R-SD) are reportedly among the names being considered, each garnering backing from different segments of the GOP caucus.

Scott has garnered significant support from within his own party.

Senators Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Ron Johnson (R-WI) have all expressed support for his bid for Senate Majority Leader, aligning with Musk’s endorsement.

However, there is also some prominent support for Cornyn and Thune. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) recently stated that he would be supporting Cornyn for the leadership role, while Senators Mike Rounds (R-SD) and Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) have voiced their support for Thune.

The position of Senate Majority Leader is a critical role, with substantial influence over legislative priorities and the confirmation process for executive and judicial appointments.

The GOP’s leadership race is expected to shape how the Senate approaches key issues under Trump’s administration, including national security, economic policy, and judicial nominations.

With Musk’s endorsement, Scott’s support within the party could see a boost, adding to his momentum among Republicans eager for a leader aligned with Trump’s priorities and committed to quick action on appointments.
