In a push to gain traction with male voters, Vice Presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez held a live-stream session on Twitch Sunday, playing the popular video game Madden NFL while discussing the upcoming election.

Democratic VP candidate Tim Walz speaks shortly after arriving at Harrisburg International Airport for a Central PA bus tour.

The event was intended to reach younger voters and leverage gaming as a platform for political engagement.

“Sundays are for football! Game on, AOC,” Walz posted on X, formerly Twitter, before the event.

The stream aired during NFL games, with Walz joining about 30 minutes into the session, dressed in a Minnesota Vikings hat.

The gaming session provided a casual platform for Walz and Ocasio-Cortez to touch on key campaign points, including their opposition to former President Donald Trump and the Democratic Party’s goals in the election. “We don’t all share the same politics, we don’t all share the same views, but the need to defeat Trump this year has been my number one priority,” Ocasio-Cortez said during the stream.

Walz also expressed his support for Ocasio-Cortez, stating that if the Harris-Walz ticket prevails, he would back her as Speaker of the House. “We’re gonna win this election. We’re gonna make you put a gavel in your hand in the House,” he said to Ocasio-Cortez.

During the stream, Walz and Ocasio-Cortez discussed Senate rules, including the possibility of eliminating the filibuster, a rule that currently allows a Senate minority to block legislation. “Oh yeah, we gotta get rid of that thing,” Ocasio-Cortez responded when asked about her position on the rule.

The event ended after one half of gameplay, with the score tied at 0-0. Walz, playing as the Vikings, then continued his campaign schedule with a stop in Las Vegas, where he attended a “Latinos con Harris-Walz” event.

Walz’s visit included a watch party for the Raiders game with local representatives Steven Horsford and Teresa Leger Fernandez.

The Harris-Walz campaign has been working to improve support among male voters.

Kamala was even caught on a hot mic while having a beer with Gretchen Whitmer in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she appears to suggest she has a male voter problem.

The focus on sports and gaming reflects a targeted effort to connect with a demographic where Harris has struggled to gain ground.

Recent polls underscore this challenge.

An NBC survey from early October found that while Harris holds a lead among women voters, Trump maintains an edge among male voters, leading Harris 56% to 40% in that demographic.

As Election Day approaches, Harris and Walz continue to emphasize outreach efforts aimed at male voters, as well as securing support in battleground states.

Both candidates are expected to increase appearances and media engagement in the final days of the campaign, focusing on critical issues and coalition-building to drive turnout.
