Steamfitters Local 638 Union member Bob Bartels has expressed firm support for former President Donald Trump, citing a range of issues including immigration, inflation, and high gas prices as reasons why a significant portion of his fellow union members are backing Trump in the upcoming election.

Speaking during a Fox News segment, Bartels shared personal concerns about the impact of illegal immigration on his neighborhood and criticized the current administration’s handling of key economic and border security issues.

Bartels, representing Steamfitters Local 638, highlighted a recent poll among union members, which showed a strong preference for Trump. “I can tell you, on my end, the steam fitters have voted in the poll. We have a 70% return in favor of President Trump,” Bartels stated.

He attributed this overwhelming support to the various challenges union members have faced in recent years, including skyrocketing inflation, gas prices, and mortgage rates.

“Everything that’s gone on the last four years? An open border, inflation, gas prices, oil, mortgage rates. I mean, I can go on and on,” Bartels said, underscoring the economic struggles many union workers have faced under the current administration.

Bartels also expressed deep concern over the effect of illegal immigration on the safety and security of local communities, particularly his own.

He pointed out how neighborhoods like the one he grew up in have been negatively impacted by the influx of illegal immigrants, directly affecting the lives of residents who have worked hard to build stable homes. “The immigrants just getting into neighborhoods like the neighborhood I grew up in, which I mentioned last night. There, I have a daughter down there. She’s afraid to walk around. And this is a neighborhood I grew up in. These are where people worked hard all their life to buy a house in a nice neighborhood, and now it’s destroyed by illegal immigrants,” Bartels emphasized.

In addition to his critiques on economic and immigration issues, Bartels criticized the moderators of a recent presidential debate for failing to address certain pressing concerns.

He mentioned the disturbing problem of mutilated animals in public areas, suggesting that the issue is not being given the attention it deserves. “Like I said last night, too, David Muir and Lindsey Davis, those two hacks from the debate. They don’t have to go to Springfield, Ohio to look at mutilated animals. They could go to right in Queens in a federal park, and you’ll see them all over the beach. It’s disgusting,” Bartels stated.

Bartels’ remarks reflect a broader frustration among many union members who feel that their concerns are being ignored by the current administration and mainstream media.

For Bartels and many of his fellow Steamfitters, Trump’s policies resonate with their desire for stronger border security, economic stability, and attention to the issues that affect their daily lives.
