In a shocking incident that has left a Louisiana community reeling, a 10-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly admitting to the fatal shootings of a former local leader and his adult daughter.

The tragic event took place in the early hours of Sunday in Minden, where police responded to a call at approximately 6:30 a.m. What they found was a horrifying scene—82-year-old Joe Cornelius Sr., a former councilman and interim mayor of Minden, and his 31-year-old daughter, Keisha Miles, were discovered lifeless, each having suffered multiple gunshot wounds, as reported by Fox News.

The boy, whose identity remains undisclosed, was reportedly brought to the police station by a guardian.

It was there that he allegedly confessed to the brutal killings. Despite the severity of the crime, Minden Police Chief Jared McIver noted with concern that the young suspect has shown no remorse for his actions.

Details surrounding the motivation behind the shootings are still under investigation. However, neighbors have provided some insight, suggesting that the tragedy may have stemmed from an argument over credit card charges related to video games.

According to those familiar with the incident, they heard as many as eight gunshots following what appeared to be a heated exchange between Cornelius and the boy.

Minden Mayor Nick Cox took to social media to express his sorrow, stating, "Joe Cornelius’s years of service to Minden were marked by his commitment and dedication to the betterment of our community. Cox also urged the community to keep the Cornelius family in their prayers during this difficult time.
