In an incident that shocked the community of Lowell, Indiana, 26-year-old Dimas Gabriel Yanez was arrested after allegedly stabbing a teenage girl during her brother’s baseball game.

The sheriff also revealed that Yanez, originally deported to Honduras in 2018, had re-entered the U.S. illegally and is suspected of engaging in criminal activities across the country since his return.

The man had been spotted in the southern part of Lake County earlier in the day. He had been running through a cornfield in an area near 120th & Iowa when a police officer with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department successfully apprehended him.

26-year-old Dimas Gabriel Yanez is now in custody at the Lake County Jail. It’s believed he was in the process of cutting his hair to change his appearance just before he was arrested. Investigators have learned Yanez had been deported to Honduras in 2018 and may have been engaged in criminal activity across the United States since returning to the country illegally. The US Department of Homeland Security has been notified of his arrest today.
