On Tuesday evening, Kankakee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a sexual assault incident in unincorporated Bourbonnais.
The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Juan C. Alvizar, a resident of Oak Creek Estates Mobile Home Park.

Following his arrest, agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Homeland Security) issued a detainer for Alvizar due to his status as an illegal alien.

Sheriff Mike Downey stated, "Although we want to make every effort possible to maintain the privacy to the victim in this particular case, I think it’s vitally important to the residents of Kankakee County to understand that this heinous act was completely avoidable based solely on the fact that this offender should not be in the country."
Downey also expressed gratitude to the deputies and investigators for their work on this challenging case.
As of Thursday, Alvizar was being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center on charges of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault/Victim Under 13 Years Old and Criminal Sexual Assault.
