Tacoma police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a homicide that occurred on July 27, resulting in the death of one man.
On Monday, August 1, officers, in coordination with the Tukwila Police Department, arrested 27-year-old Adrian Ramirez Martinez. Martinez is now facing charges of second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a non-citizen.
Martinez is alleged to have fatally shot a man at an apartment complex on South Hosmer Street shortly before 2 a.m. The shooting reportedly followed a text message Martinez sent to the victim, asking him to meet in the parking lot of the complex.

According to court documents, a witness recounted that after receiving the message, he walked away from the car where he and the victim were seated. Moments later, a single gunshot was heard, and the victim was seen clutching his chest before collapsing on the ground.
The witness, who had socialized with both the victim and Martinez during weekend gatherings, speculated that an argument may have preceded the shooting.
Prosecutors revealed that Martinez had been deported to Mexico in September 2016 and was barred from re-entering the United States for 20 years. As a result, he was prohibited from owning a firearm.

Tacoma Police Department continues to investigate the case and urges anyone with additional information to come forward.
Martinez entered a plea of not guilty to the charges on Friday.
