Philadelphia police are on the lookout for three armed suspects after a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place in the 1200 block of Van Kirk Street in Philadelphia's Oxford Circle neighborhood at 4 p.m.

Police officers at the scene found the teenager suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying behind a property on the block.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, but he died later from his injuries.

According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, three gunmen were seen chasing the victim while firing at him.

Surveillance footage of the incident reportedly shows two of the suspects standing over the victim and shooting him multiple times at close range in an execution-style killing.

Small commented, "So, it appears to be an execution-type homicide since the shooters are seen on camera standing over the victim. We also found multiple spent shell casings just inches away."

After the incident, the suspects fled the scene in a white sedan. The police are urging eyewitnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The victim's identity is being withheld until his family is duly informed.
