In the video, officers can be heard deliberating on alternative methods after the initial attempts to subdue Junkin prove ineffective.
Officer Nick Fladland from the Crookston Police Department is heard seeking different tactics, exclaiming, “What do we got for less lethal, what do we have, more options?”
The tension escalates when Junkin rises from a prone position, ignoring commands to cooperate, and charges at Officer Fladland, leading to the fatal shots that put an end to Junkin's life.
It became known that Officer Fladland had recently returned from critical incident leave stemming from his involvement in another shooting on May 16th.
