Joe Biden made an apparently scripted announcement regarding a new security assistance package for Ukraine during a press briefing held jointly with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington.

The briefing took place on July 11 at the NATO summit.

In his remarks, Joe Biden attempted to coherently convey a message of unwavering support to Ukraine while reading almost entirely from note cards prepared for him by his staff.

He emphasized, " I'm proud to announce new security assistance package for Ukraine. This will be the eighth package I've authorized since we've signed a national security bill. Secretary of Defense, we can talk about what the details of all that are. I signed it yesterday or last night, I guess, and we're working with our NATO allies to ensure Ukraine is flying F-16s this summer and show the world that we stand with Ukraine now and in the future."

Since the passage of a foreign aid bill by the U.S. Congress in April, which allocated approximately $61 billion for Ukraine, this marks the eighth approved package announced by Joe Biden.

Although the specific details of the new aid package were not provided during the press briefing, the Associated Press reported that the package is estimated to be worth $225 million.
