A thief who ran over a Port Orange police officer while trying to escape in a stolen car was arrested, according to the authorities. Ah'lijah Aman Mah'di Balk, 20, who was parked at an apartment complex, became violent when officers approached him.

In an effort to flee, he put the car in reverse and ran over one of the officers. During the chase, Balk struck multiple police cars and eventually lost control of the car, fleeing on foot. Officers later apprehended him.

Here's What They're Not Telling You About Your Retirement

Body cam footage shows an officer pointing what seems to be either a taser or a gun at Balk after he had been cornered. The officer demanded that Balk put his hands up in the air, but Balk disregarded his demands and knocked down an officer before escaping on foot. The video shows the officer knocking Balk to the ground, ultimately leading to his arrest.

Balk is facing multiple charges, including aggravated battery and aggravated assault on an officer, fleeing, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest with violence, petit theft, criminal mischief, and unlawful possession of another person's ID. No wonder he tried to escape - he has a long list of criminal charges.
