An LAPD traffic stop turned violent on Wednesday night when an assailant opened fire on two officers without warning. The officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries; one was grazed on the head, while the other was injured by shattered glass.
The Los Angeles Police Department released a photo of the damaged cruiser, showing multiple bullet holes in the windshield, with both the passenger and driver positions struck.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. near the intersection of South Broadway and Rosecrans Avenue. Officers from the Southeast Division had initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevy sedan when someone in the car “immediately shot at the officers,” according to the LAPD. The officers returned fire, but it remains unclear if the suspect was hit.

Following the exchange of gunfire, the car sped away. Officers pursued the vehicle to the area of Broadway and 135th Street but eventually lost sight of it. Paramedics transported the injured officers to a nearby hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
The LAPD stated, “We are still in the early stages of this investigation. Investigators have body-worn video and other evidence to review.”
An active search for the suspect and vehicle is ongoing. The department urged anyone who witnessed the attack to contact the LAPD.
