A routine crash investigation in Minnesota revealed a grisly crime when deputies discovered a wrapped body in the backseat of a vehicle. The driver, Margot Lewis, 32, from North Liberty, Iowa, now faces serious charges as authorities piece together the details of this disturbing case.

On June 22, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 Eastbound near the Highway 42 Exit around 7 a.m. Lewis was promptly transported to a hospital for medical clearance and then taken to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center. Authorities quickly determined that Tsai's death was not caused by the car crash. A search of the vehicle registration led them to an address in Minneapolis, prompting a welfare check by the Minneapolis Police Department. By evening, law enforcement, including the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), executed a search warrant at Tsai's residence in Minneapolis, uncovering a violent crime scene.

News reports have provided additional chilling details. According to KIMT3 News, court documents described Lewis and Tsai's relationship as "sordid and emotionally challenging."  Law enforcement noted a "gaping puncture wound" on Tsai's neck, confirming that she didn't die from the crash. The Minnesota State Patrol's investigation revealed that Lewis’s car was traveling at a staggering 105 miles per hour at the time of the accident.
