Outagamie County District Attorney, Melinda Tempelis, declared that law enforcement officers involved in the fatal shooting of William Jae Kil Nelson on April 12 will not face criminal charges. The incident, which took place in the town of Grand Chute, ended tragically for the 22-year-old who was armed with a knife following a crash at 5:56 p.m.

In a tense moment, Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Noah Yeck attempted to subdue Nelson with a stun gun, only for the situation to escalate. Sergeant Ellis Brooks, also from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, was forced to use his firearm, ultimately resulting in Nelson’s death.
