Yesterday evening, chaos erupted in west San Jose, California,  as multiple sideshows swept through the city, with one particularly dangerous event turning violent. At approximately 6:55 PM, police dispatch received numerous reports of sideshow activities, leading to a troubling incident where a spectator was struck by a reckless vehicle.

A reserve officer patrolling the area was flagged down to assist the injured spectator. However, as he attempted to provide aid, his patrol car was overrun by a mob of unruly spectators, preventing him from helping the injured individual. This aggressive crowd caused significant damage to the patrol vehicle, leaving the officer with minor injuries. The unruly group dispersed before additional units could arrive.

Acting Chief of Police Paul Joseph expressed his outrage over the incident, stating, “To see one of our officers attacked by an out-of-control mob while in the process of trying to help a seriously injured person is truly deplorable!” He further assured the public, “This conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our city. Detectives and Crime Analysts from our Real-Time Intelligence Center are actively following up to identify all those responsible.”

Chief Joseph vowed to utilize all available resources to bring the perpetrators to justice. “Know that we will expend every effort to identify and apprehend all involved. I will also personally work with the District Attorney to ensure that, once arrested, these suspects are prosecuted to the fullest extent the law allows,” he declared.

This incident highlights the growing problem of sideshows and the urgent need for stricter enforcement to protect both spectators and law enforcement officers from such reckless and violent behavior.
