After operating independently the USFL and XFL combined in the offseason to form the UFL, giving sports fans a quality spring football product. And following a ten-week regular season schedule and conference championships, the first UFL championship game is upon us. Sunday night either the Birmingham Stallions or San Antonio Brahmas will emerge as the inaugural UFL champion.
The Brahmas, under the guidance of former NFL Coach Wade Phillips, enter the game with significant momentum. Their shutdown defense ended the St. Louis Battlehawks run in the conference championship and has them on a collision course with the league's most impressive offense.
The Birmingham Stallions finished the regular season with a +85 point differential and tied with the Battlehawks for a league-best 260 points scored. They scored 31 points in the conference championship to punch their ticket to the UFL championship game.
In head to head competition this year, the Stallions met the Brahmas in week 10 where they came up short, losing 18-9.
