According to reports on social media platform X, German police discharged their firearms at an individual who menaced officers with a pickaxe and an incendiary device during a Euro 2024 soccer fan parade in central Hamburg on Sunday.

The situation unfolded in Hamburg's St. Pauli district as the Poland vs. Netherlands match at the Volksparkstadion, scheduled for 3 p.m. (1300 GMT), approached.

Pre-game fan marches were organized, with a Dutch supporters' parade commencing at 12:30 p.m. (1030 GMT), aligning closely with the timing of the incident.

The month-long tournament, which commenced on Friday night, is being hosted by Germany.
