The Baltimore Police Department recently made public the bodycam footage capturing the fatal police shooting that transpired back in May, shedding light on the events surrounding the incident.
The video offers a glimpse into the May 24 confrontation that resulted in the death of 39-year-old Anthony Ferguson, a figure with a history of run-ins with the law and a laundry list of criminal charges to his name.

In a daring move, investigators had been tailing Ferguson, meticulously tracking his movements in the south of Baltimore after he momentarily stepped away from work. Their intention? To probe him over a previous incident involving firearm discharge, albeit with no casualties reported.

As officers rifled through Ferguson's belongings, he retrieved a Springfield 45 semiautomatic pistol from his waistband. In a matter of seconds, he unleashed three rounds in the direction of the officers.
Baltimore Police Deputy Commissioner Brian Nadeau revealed, "It was a Springfield 45 semiautomatic; it did have an extended magazine on it, which can carry anywhere between 27 and 29 rounds."

"(The) gunshot struck him in the vest," detailed Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley. "If the vest isn't there, it goes into his heart and probably kills him."
Nadeau emphasized the critical role of the bodycam footage in showing the reality of the situation, asserting, "He was observed on camera discharging his weapon. The officer who received the gunshot here was doing the investigation," highlighting the pivotal role video evidence plays in providing crucial insights into such critical incidents.
Public records showed Ferguson's troubled past, marked by a litany of violent criminal offenses, including multiple gun and drug charges.
