In a move possibly not seen in centuries, Israeli soldiers have employed a medieval-style trebuchet to launch fireballs into Lebanon. Footage shows the IDF soldiers operating the trebuchet near the Lebanese border, sending flaming projectiles into Lebanese plantations.

“This is a local initiative and not a tool that is widely used,” the military allegedly told Israeli state broadcaster KAN News. Historically, trebuchets were prominent during the Middle Ages, primarily used in sieges to launch large stones and other projectiles at enemy fortifications.
The current tension between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israel has escalated, with near-daily exchanges of fire since the Gaza conflict erupted in October.
