An alarming incident unfolded in Odessa, Texas, over the weekend as 38-year-old Michael Roy Guzman, Jr. was apprehended after allegedly attempting to shoot his ex-girlfriend. Guzman faces a string of serious charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Possession of Body Armor by a Felon, and Parole Violation.

According to a report from the Odessa Police Department, the harrowing situation occurred on June 2, when authorities responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 2700 block of Redwood Drive. The distress call was made by a woman who reported an altercation with her ex-boyfriend, identified as Guzman. The confrontation reportedly transpired when Guzman arrived at her residence to collect his belongings, quickly escalating into a physical altercation.

The victim recounted a terrifying ordeal, alleging that Guzman had forcibly grabbed her by the hair and struck her head against the steering wheel as he attempted to drive away, leaving her partially hanging outside the vehicle. After breaking free, the woman fled toward her house and was confronted by her 18-year-old son, who intervened upon witnessing the altercation. The son disclosed to investigators that he witnessed Guzman pursuing his mother and subsequently engaged in a struggle, resulting in Guzman being stabbed in an act of self-defense.

Subsequent to the altercation, the victim and her son reported that Guzman discharged a single round at the residence before departing the scene. Surveillance footage and the discovery of a 9mm shell casing at the location supported their account, identifying Guzman as the aggressor in the confrontation.
