GLEN ROSE, Texas - A Texas safari tour took a dramatic turn when a giraffe at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose unexpectedly grasped a young girl from a truck bed as she attempted to feed it.
Lindsey Merriman and her family were visiting the wildlife center on Saturday, June 1, and captured the shocking incident on video. The footage details the giraffe's unexpected interaction with the young girl. The footage has garnered widespread attention. It shows the giraffe inadvertently grabbing the girl's shirt while reaching for food and lifting her from the bed of the truck.
According to Merriman, the child was promptly placed in an adult's arms following the incident. While the Fort Worth Star-Telegram identified the child as a 2-year-old girl, reports indicated that no injuries were sustained during the encounter.
