Former University of Iowa standout Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 draft pick by the WNBA's Indiana Fever, is seemingly rattled according to some experts and the star's own commentary.

"I feel like I'm getting hammered," Clark said in an interview with Dominic Miranda of WTHR. "I just—I don't know."

During a recent game against the the Seattle Storm, Clark was visibly frustrated by what she perceived as missed calls from the referees. The most notable instance occurred late in the third quarter when she appeared to be fouled hard on a missed layup attempt, but no foul was called.

Clark's reaction to the physical nature of the WNBA stands in contrast to other rookies like Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky. After taking a hard foul from Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas, Reese responded by thanking the veteran and inviting more challenges.

Despite the physical challenges, Clark has demonstrated her resilience, frequently noting that opponents "get away" with a lot. However, less than ten games into her professional career, the discussion has shifted to whether she is receiving the calls she deserves, overshadowing her performance on the court.

Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides has been vocal in her support of Clark. "Caitlin's learning, she's fighting," Sides said in a recent an interview. "The whole 40 minutes she's in the game — on both ends — she's getting beat up."

After a brief moment of visible frustration, it was Sides who took the initiative, receiving a technical foul after voicing her displeasure to the officials. Some observers believe Clark's emotional intensity contributes to her challenges, as evidenced by a technical foul she received on Thursday for confronting Victoria Vivians of the Storm.

Clark's presence on the team has yet to result in many victories for the Fever, but her performance has been impressive and her ceiling in the world of professional women's basketball remains sky-high.
