Wactor, 37, who appeared in numerous episodes of the soap opera from 2020 to 2022, displayed immense bravery in the face of danger.

The incident occurred around 3:25 am on Saturday in the vicinity of West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street. Wactor had just finished his side job at a rooftop bar and was leaving with his co-worker when he noticed three individuals near his vehicle. Suspecting that his truck was being towed, Wactor approached the men to discuss the matter. Tragically, one of the men raised a gun and aimed it at Wactor. Without hesitation, he positioned himself in front of his female co-worker and valiantly took the fatal bullet. The armed thieves, all wearing masks, swiftly fled the scene in another vehicle.
Wactor was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The perpetrators responsible for murdering him are still at large, intensifying the urgency of the investigation.

Expressing his grief, Johnny's younger brother Grant highlighted their upbringing as "southern gentlemen" who would never allow a female to walk alone. Grant recounted the events leading to Wactor's heroic act, stating that he believed his truck was being towed and confronted the thieves with a query. Understanding the imminent danger, he swiftly protected his co-worker before being shot in the chest.
Grant underscored the hardworking nature of his older brother, emphasizing his dedication and impact on everyone he encountered. Remembering him as genuine and charismatic, Grant expressed hope that justice would prevail.
