Police in Las Vegas stopped what could have been a devastating bloodbath after arresting a self-identified transgender shooter who authorities say planned to attack a local casino.
The suspect, 36-year-old Allison Howlett, born male but living as a woman, was apprehended [1] with a carload of firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear after his ex-wife reported that he had made threats to carry out mass violence and “suicide by cop.”
According to Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader, the call came in just after 9:30 on Saturday morning.
Howlett’s former spouse told police that her stolen vehicle contained multiple firearms and that Howlett had threatened both his own life and the lives of others.
Officers tracked the car to the parking garage at Sunset Station hotel, where they found Howlett armed and alone.
When law enforcement approached, Howlett was reportedly armed with a handgun and had access to a fully automatic, suppressed MP5-style machine gun.
Officers say the vehicle contained 22 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Investigators then searched Howlett’s Henderson residence and uncovered an additional 30 firearms, including machine guns and silencers.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reported that Howlett faces 35 felony counts, including assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence charges, auto theft, and 21 counts of larceny of a firearm.
Eight counts of illegal possession of a machine gun or silencer were added to the list.
A judge set bail at 500,000 dollars and ordered that if released, Howlett would be subject to high-level electronic monitoring.
Authorities in Henderson, Clark County, and the FBI’s Las Vegas field office are continuing to investigate the case.
Police described the situation as a “serious and immediate threat” that might have evolved into a mass casualty event if not for the alert call from Howlett’s ex-wife and the swift response of multiple law enforcement agencies.
The FBI praised the quick coordination among departments, saying the outcome highlights the importance of community vigilance.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued a statement thanking every agency that played a role in preventing what could have been mass carnage.
“As Southern Nevada prepares for the Independence Day holiday, law enforcement agencies throughout the valley remain vigilant and committed to protecting everyone who lives, works, and visits our community,” the statement read.
“Early reporting saves lives.”

Critics point out that if the ideology driving these violent outbursts came from any conservative group, the mainstream press would label it domestic terrorism and blame the Republican Party directly.
Instead, most major outlets bury such stories deep in their websites, leaving small local publications and conservative media to report the uncomfortable truth.
Former law enforcement professionals are also questioning how a suspect accumulated such a vast collection of weapons without drawing the attention of authorities sooner.
Federal and state firearm laws already exist to prevent illegal possession.
Yet, as this case once again proves, criminals and unstable individuals don’t actually care about the law.
The quick response from Las Vegas officers saved lives and served as a reminder that, when communities and law enforcement work together, threats can be stopped before tragedy strikes.
It’s also a reminder that the ongoing experiment in pronoun politics and gender denial can hide deeper psychological problems that should not be taken lightly.
For all the talk from progressive leaders about red flag laws and “gun safety,” this case proves that solid policing, vigilant neighbors, and prompt reporting are the true shields against violent acts.
The brave men and women in blue prevented another catastrophe and showed the country what real public safety looks like.
While liberals obsess over identity politics and the media protects its favored narratives, it is America’s law enforcement community that continues to stand between order and chaos.
Las Vegas should be grateful for that dedication right now, and so should the rest of the nation.
