Authorities in Arizona are preparing to give a public update on the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, more than four and a half days after she was last seen alive, as reported by The New York Post.
Chris Nanos, sheriff of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, is scheduled to speak at a press conference on Thursday afternoon at 11 a.m. MT, 1 p.m. ET. The briefing was announced on Tuesday as part of what officials described as a routine public update in the case.
As of Wednesday night, investigators said there were no identified suspects and no confirmed leads.

The update comes hours after Guthrie’s three children released an emotional video appeal urging anyone holding their mother to make contact and provide proof that she is alive.
Here's What They're Not Telling You About Your Retirement
“We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive, and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us,” Savannah Guthrie said in the recorded message.
She was joined by her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie.
Addressing her mother directly, Guthrie added through tears, “Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley, he is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy. Everywhere. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again.”
The family also acknowledged reports of alleged ransom letters demanding millions of dollars in bitcoin for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.

Those messages were sent to Tucson-area news outlets and TMZ earlier this week. Law enforcement officials have not verified the authenticity of the letters.
Sheriff Nanos said Wednesday that investigators are still holding out hope that Guthrie is alive and can be rescued, but emphasized that time is a critical factor.
Authorities have stated that Guthrie relies on daily, life-saving medication that was left behind at her home.
Investigators returned Wednesday evening to Guthrie’s residence in Tucson, where she was reported missing on Sunday.
Police previously said they found drops of blood and signs of a struggle inside the home. Additional evidence sweeps were conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
Medical concerns have also intensified following disclosures about Guthrie’s implanted pacemaker.
According to Arizona authorities, the device stopped syncing with her Apple devices, including her watch and iPhone, around 2 a.m. Sunday — close to the estimated time, investigators believe she may have been abducted.
Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a cardiologist who previously treated former Vice President Dick Cheney, told CNN that a spike recorded by the pacemaker around that time could indicate physical distress.
“If a person was in a physical struggle, that might have created a rapid heartbeat … the pacemaker would have detected that and potentially reported it,” Reiner said.
Law enforcement officials have not confirmed the exact circumstances surrounding Guthrie’s disappearance, but continue to urge anyone with information to contact authorities immediately, as the investigation remains active.
