An NYPD detective is facing administrative charges after allegedly sneaking into the Ryder Cup golf tournament on Long Island by pretending to be part of President Donald Trump’s Secret Service security detail, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

According to The New York Post, Detective Melvin Eng, 46, attended the tournament in Farmingdale on Friday while on sick leave from the police department. Eng reportedly dressed in full tactical gear and told others that he was working security for the president.

Law enforcement sources said Eng’s cover was blown after he accidentally dropped a gun magazine on the course, prompting real security personnel to confront him. He was then removed from the tournament.

“You’re out sick, what are you doing at the Ryder Cup?” one veteran officer told The Post. “You can’t do that. And it’s theft of service because you went in for free and then you lied and said you worked for Donald Trump.”

Eng, who serves as president of the NYPD Asian Jade Society, is accused of “theft of services” for gaining access to the tournament without paying and under false pretenses. NYPD documents confirm that the incident has resulted in internal charges.

The alleged breach raised questions about security at the high-profile event. President Trump attended the Ryder Cup as part of his schedule, making the presence of unauthorized armed individuals a matter of concern for federal and local authorities.

Eng’s actions come on the heels of other recent lapses in security. Earlier this month, it was reported that a Secret Service agent fell asleep during the United Nations General Assembly in New York and left his automatic rifle unattended.

That incident, coupled with the Ryder Cup episode, has intensified scrutiny over the handling of security around major events attended by world leaders.

Eng has not publicly commented on the allegations. The NYPD confirmed that he is under investigation, and the department is reviewing the circumstances surrounding his appearance at the tournament.

President Trump’s official security detail remains under the purview of the Secret Service, which has not released a statement regarding the Ryder Cup incident.
