She added:

“They shot him in the neck, and blood went everywhere. The worst part of it all was that the liberals who were there were cheering.” Still visibly shaken, she urged those who responded with applause to reflect on their actions.

“Take a look at yourself and think, ‘Is this who I really want to be?’” she said.

Following the shooting, law enforcement detained two individuals for questioning but later released them. The primary suspect remains at large.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox characterized the killing as a “political assassination.” His statement came as officials from state and federal agencies expanded the investigation, which includes the FBI and the Utah State Bureau of Investigation.

President Donald Trump condemned the assassination from the Oval Office on Wednesday evening. “This was an assassination,” the President said.

“It is a dark moment for America.” He described Kirk as “a patriot who devoted his life to open debate,” and connected the shooting to recent attacks targeting political figures, including two attempts on his own life.

Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the gunman. Surveillance video has captured portions of the suspect’s movements, and investigators previously recovered a rifle believed to have been used in the attack.

The assassination has shocked political leaders and citizens across the country, sparking renewed debate over political violence and security at public events. The investigation remains ongoing.
