Michigan congressional candidate Shelby Campbell is facing backlash after posting a video on social media mocking the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Campbell, who is running in the Democratic primary for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, recorded herself laughing about Kirk’s death and taunting his supporters, as reported [1] by The Gateway Pundit.
In the video, Campbell smirked while addressing conservatives directly. “Hey MAGA,” she said, “How bad does it hurt that Jimmy Kimmel is back, but you can’t get your person back?”

Her remarks were made while discussing late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s return to television following his own commentary about Kirk’s killer.
When a critic responded online asking, “And you think people are going to vote for you? Dumb libs,” Campbell doubled down with further comments about Kirk’s death.
She continued by addressing Michigan residents. “Hi Michiganders, specifically Detrioters… Do you guys care that Charlie Kirk passed away? Yeah. I didn’t think so,” she said.
Campbell then claimed that Kirk made disparaging remarks about Black people, though she did not cite any examples to support her accusations. “Because my district is primarily Black people, and Charlie Kirk said awful things about Black people,” she said in the video.
She went further, saying she believed her district would support her candidacy because of her racial identity. “So no, I think my district will like me because I advocate for them as a White person… so….” She ended the video by flipping off the camera and sticking out her tongue.

Campbell’s campaign biography describes her as a single mother, a former assembly line worker, and a third-generation member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). Her campaign is currently fundraising through ActBlue, a platform widely used by Democratic candidates across the country.
The video has circulated widely on social media, sparking criticism from conservatives who argue that mocking a political opponent’s assassination crosses a line.
Calls for accountability have also emerged in Michigan, where Campbell’s comments are being highlighted as the Democratic primary season approaches.
