Mass Shooting in Michigan: 6-8 Victims, Mormon Church Engulfed in Flames [WATCH]

Authorities in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, confirmed [1] Sunday that a mass shooting took place at a Church of Latter-day Saints, with between six and eight victims reported.

The church building was also on fire as emergency responders arrived on the scene.

In an official Facebook post, the Grand Blanc Township Police Department stated there was “NO threat to the public at this time” while also confirming “the church is actively on fire.”

Fire crews were deployed alongside police to control the blaze as investigators began assessing the shooting incident.

Local outlet Fox 2 Detroit reported that six to eight people were among the victims.

Authorities did not immediately provide further details regarding the conditions of those wounded.

Police instructed individuals at the scene to gather at a reunification pavilion located to the north of the church.

An additional reunification site was established at the Trillium theater at Holly and McCandlish for those arriving from outside the immediate area.

Officials also issued a warning to residents, urging: “PLEASE AVOID THE AREA!!” Roads near the church were closed to allow emergency crews to respond to both the fire and the shooting.

Federal authorities quickly became involved. The U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, announced on social media that she was receiving regular updates on the situation.

She confirmed that agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were “en route to the scene now.”

Bondi added in her statement, “Such violence at a place of worship is heartbreaking and chilling.”

Local and federal investigators are expected to coordinate on determining both the cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to the shooting.

Authorities confirmed that The Post had reached out to both local and federal officials for comment but said details remained limited as the investigation was ongoing.

Emergency personnel continued efforts to extinguish the blaze while medical teams treated victims and secured transportation to nearby hospitals.

The reunification centers remained active for families and community members seeking information about loved ones.

Grand Blanc Township residents were advised that further official updates would be issued through police department channels as more facts became available.
