Former CNN host Don Lemon joined a group of anti-Trump activists Tuesday in Washington, D.C., in a visit to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s congressional office that ended with Capitol Police involvement and the group being escorted out, as reported by Fox News.

The incident was captured on video by journalist Ford Fischer and posted to X.

The footage shows Lemon, who now hosts a YouTube program, standing alongside Carlos Alvarez, the founder of American Opposition, as the group demanded a meeting with Greene, a Republican representing Georgia.

Alvarez introduced himself at the reception desk inside Greene’s office. “We would like to make sure she knows that we need to get Donald Trump impeached and out of office.

My name is Carlos Alvarez, and I’m the founder of American Opposition,” he said. Alvarez also pointed to street protests and a Tesla boycott, noting his group’s role in those efforts. Lemon, holding a microphone, documented the interaction.

The situation escalated when a Greene staffer entered and directed the group to stop recording. “This is a private office,” the staffer said. Alvarez pushed back, saying, “Yes, and we’re here to see the congresswoman.”

The staffer told them that because they were not residents of Greene’s district and had not requested a meeting through formal channels, their approach was improper. “Bombarding her office and recording our staff is not one of them,” the staffer said.

Alvarez maintained that the group was being civil and argued that recording in the office was protected under the First Amendment. The staffer disagreed, saying, “No, it’s not. To take a picture of her private office—no, it is not.”

As the discussion grew more heated, Alvarez told the staffer, “Honestly, you work for us.” The staffer replied, “We work for the people of northwest Georgia,” before escorting the group out and closing the office door.

Members of the group responded by flipping off the door, and one individual could be heard calling the staff “Nazis.”

Capitol Police officers instructed the group to quiet down as they continued cheering in the hallway. No arrests were reported.

Greene later responded on X, referencing Lemon’s departure from CNN in 2023.

“This is how Don Lemon, who was fired by CNN for being such a disgusting, misogynistic pig to his female coworkers and women, is trying to get viewers for his new podcast,” Greene wrote. She accused the group of having “stormed the Capitol and my office” and harassing her staff.

Lemon disputed Greene’s characterization in an Instagram post. “I did not storm your office, and no one harassed anybody,” he said. He also noted that the activists visited several congressional offices, including those of Democrats.
