Mass Shooting Rocks Downtown Los Angeles After Officers Left Party Scene [WATCH]

Two people were killed and six others wounded in a mass shooting at a crowded afterparty in downtown Los Angeles early Monday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

The incident occurred [1] at a building where an estimated 50 to 60 people had gathered for a party late Sunday night.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department initially responded to the location around 11 p.m. after observing an individual running into the building, according to ABC News.

During that initial response, police arrested one person for firearm possession and subsequently cleared the scene.

Roughly two hours later, around 1 a.m., LAPD officers were dispatched back to the same location following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, they discovered eight adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two of those individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

“One victim remained in critical condition as of early Monday,” Los Angeles Police Department Commander Letisia Ruiz told ABC News.

The conditions of the five other injured victims have not been publicly released.

The LAPD stated that no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified at this time.

A spokesperson for the LAPD told the Daily Caller that investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses.

The department has not yet determined whether the shooting was targeted or random.

In its response to the Daily Caller, LAPD noted there were “no more recent developments or anything known about the shooter,” and the investigation remains ongoing.

Detectives have not ruled out the possibility of multiple suspects being involved in the shooting.

The location of the incident, a commercial building in the downtown area, has not been officially identified by authorities, though media reports indicate it was being used for an afterparty event with dozens of attendees.

Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the LAPD’s Central Bureau Homicide unit.

Witnesses who were present at the scene are being urged to cooperate with detectives as the investigation continues.

The LAPD said further updates would be provided to the public as more information becomes available.
