White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared a rare look into her private life over the weekend, posting photos from her 28th birthday celebrations in New Hampshire with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, and their one-year-old son, Nicholas “Niko” Robert, as reported [1] by The Daily Mail.
Leavitt, the youngest press secretary in American history, shared several images on Instagram on Sunday showing the family enjoying a day at the beach.
In one photo, Leavitt held her son, who wore a bathing suit decorated with crabs. Leavitt was dressed in a white crochet beach cover-up.

Another image showed her husband, 59-year-old Riccio, carrying their child as the couple posed together in matching blue workout outfits and sunglasses.
Leavitt also posted a photo of two birthday cards. One, decorated with ice cream cones and addressed “Mom, you’re the coolest,” appeared to be from her son.
Another, featuring two sloths sitting on a log, read, “Happy birthday to my wife… my other half,” and appeared to be from Riccio.
On Instagram stories [3], Leavitt shared additional moments from the day, including a bouquet of pink flowers she received, a motorized scooter ride along the beach, and a dinner in Boston’s North End with family before returning to Washington, D.C. One image showed Niko watching a firetruck from the restaurant window.

Leavitt has largely kept her family life private, though she has occasionally addressed her marriage to Riccio, who is 32 years older. The pair married in 2024 after getting engaged on Christmas Day in 2023.
In an interview last year with Megyn Kelly, Leavitt revealed that she first met her husband during her 2022 congressional campaign when a mutual friend hosted an event at a restaurant Riccio owned in New Hampshire.
“I met my husband during my Congressional Campaign. A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband. I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.”
When asked about the age difference, Leavitt acknowledged she initially had doubts. “Yes, of course. I mean it’s a very atypical love story but he’s incredible. He is my greatest supporter, he’s my best friend and he’s my rock,” she said.
