A now former Justice Department employee has been arrested [1] and charged with assaulting a federal officer after allegedly throwing a Subway sandwich at a US Customs and Border Protection agent in Washington, D.C., earlier this week.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Thursday that the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Sean Charles Dunn, has been fired from his position at the Department of Justice and is facing a felony assault charge.
“If you touch any law enforcement officer, we will come after you,” Bondi said.
“I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice — NO LONGER. Not only is he FIRED, he has been charged with a felony.”
Bondi added, “This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ. You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement.”

A Justice Department official told the Associated Press that Dunn was employed as an international affairs specialist in the department’s criminal division.
According to a criminal complaint, Dunn confronted a group of federal officers on a D.C. street, allegedly shouting insults before throwing his sandwich and striking a CBP agent in the chest.
The complaint says Dunn called the officers “fascists” and yelled, “F**k you! You f**king fascists! Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city!” while standing close to one officer’s face.
The filing states that after the incident, Dunn fled the scene on foot but was apprehended shortly afterward.

While being processed, Dunn allegedly told a local officer, “I did it. I threw a sandwich.”
Video of the confrontation circulated online amid President Trump’s recent decision to deploy federal law enforcement to assist the Metropolitan Police Department in addressing crime in the District.
Dunn has been charged with one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer, a felony offense that carries a potential penalty of up to one year in prison if convicted.
DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the charge sends a message about attacks on law enforcement.
“The police are not out there to get pushed around or beat up,” Pirro said.
“He thought it was funny. Well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today because we charged him with a felony: Assault on a police officer. So there, stick your Subway sandwich somewhere else!”

The arrest took place during the first week of President Trump’s 30-day federalization of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, which began Monday.
The order also activated National Guard personnel to assist in patrolling city streets.
According to figures released by the Trump administration, the operation has resulted in more than 100 arrests in three days — 23 on Monday, 43 on Tuesday, and 45 on Wednesday.
The crackdown follows a separate high-profile incident last week involving former Department of Government Efficiency employee Edward Coristine, known by the nickname “Big Balls,” who was assaulted while intervening to stop a carjacking.
