French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron have filed a defamation lawsuit in the United States against American political commentator Candace Owens, as reported[1] by The Gateway Pundit.
The legal action stems from Owens’ repeated claims that Brigitte Macron was born male—an allegation the Macrons say is false, defamatory, and part of a broader “smear campaign.”

The 219-page complaint was filed Wednesday in Delaware state court. It accuses Owens and her business entities of engaging in a campaign to spread “demonstrably false” claims across multiple platforms, including an eight-part podcast series and posts on social media.
The lawsuit names Owens as well as her companies, which are incorporated in the state of Delaware.
“These lies have caused tremendous damage to the Macrons,” the complaint states. The filing alleges that Owens’ commentary has resulted in “global humiliation” and subjected the couple to ongoing public harassment and ridicule.
According to the lawsuit, Owens “has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade.”
The complaint further claims that her efforts have created an environment of “relentless bullying on a worldwide scale.”
The filing also suggests that Owens’ commentary has turned the Macrons’ private lives into a source of content for “profit-driven lies,” and asserts that the couple now feels targeted whenever they appear in public.
This legal action comes in the wake of a French appeals court decision earlier this year that cleared two women who had previously been convicted of defamation for suggesting that Brigitte Macron was born a man.
That ruling appeared to weaken the Macrons’ position under French law, leading them to pursue action in an American jurisdiction where Owens and her media businesses are located.
The case adds another layer of complexity to Macron’s political landscape in France, where the president is already dealing with numerous economic and domestic challenges.
