New York Attorney General Letitia James alleged during a May 3 appearance in Harlem that individuals had been sent to surveil her home, a claim she tied to former President Donald Trump and his supporters.
Speaking at Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network event, James referenced her ongoing legal battle with Trump and said she had been personally targeted in what she described as an act of retaliation.
“They’ve got individuals coming to my house, standing outside my house,” James told the audience.
“Last Sunday, church Sunday, while I was in church, these individuals were in front of my house taking pictures. And then streaming it, putting it on social media.”

She claimed the incidents are linked to what she called a “revenge tour” by the president, following a civil court ruling in February in which Trump and his company were ordered to pay $454 million in penalties stemming from a civil fraud case brought by James’ office.

“This is nothing more than vindictiveness,” James continued.
“This is nothing more than an individual who’s upset at me because we secured a $454 million judgment against him and his family and his company.”
James, a Democrat, did not clarify whether the alleged surveillance took place at her residence in Brooklyn or at a property she owns in Virginia.
The New York Post reported that a spokesperson for her office declined to provide additional details or cite which social media posts James was referencing.
The allegations from James come as she faces mounting legal scrutiny herself.
In April, the Trump administration submitted a criminal referral recommending that James be investigated for alleged mortgage fraud.
According to a report from Breitbart News, Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte referred James to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
The referral alleges James falsified mortgage records to obtain home loans for a property in Virginia, which she reportedly claimed was her primary residence in 2023 while serving as a state prosecutor in New York.

The alleged misconduct took place shortly before James filed the civil fraud lawsuit against Trump and the Trump Organization.
Breitbart also cited legal commentary questioning the legitimacy of James’ case against Trump.
Joel B. Pollak, writing in February 2024, pointed out that a review by the Associated Press found no legal precedent for prosecuting a business owner for inflating real estate values when no financial institution suffered a loss.
Pollak noted the case appeared to apply a unique legal standard to Trump.
Despite the ongoing appeal of the $454 million judgment, James has remained vocal about her intentions regarding future legal actions involving Trump.
She has publicly stated her office is “ready on day one” to file additional lawsuits against the president, though she has not specified what potential legal matters her office may pursue.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened a criminal investigation into James over the alleged mortgage fraud.

I’m surprised that this ghetto rat hasn’t used the race card yet! And why isn’t the king of ghetto rats, Al Sharpton, in prison for tax fraud and evasion?!
This woman is so full of hate for Trump that it has taken control of her every thought each day. I hope that charges will be brought against her and that she will be found guilty. I see her as unfit to serve as AG and as someone who should be removed from office.
Leticia claims that Trump is vindictive – let us remember that she gained Office based on a “Get Trump” campaign.
She obviously does not know the meaning of Hypocracy – she is full of it – which house did these supposed crowds stand in front of – her disputed New York or Virginia homes – either is enough to score a guilty verdict.
