The booing of the American anthem, which started on February 1 in Ottawa during an NHL game between the Minnesota Wild and the Ottawa Senators, has continued to spread across multiple sporting events in Canada.

Following the initial incident, Canadian basketball fans joined in, booing the anthem before a game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Toronto Raptors.

The hostility carried over into international hockey competitions, particularly during the 4 Nations Face-Off, where the United States and Canada played twice.

The same day, Trump also made a lighthearted remark on social media about Canada potentially becoming the “51st state.”

The U.S. anthem was also booed during the WWE Elimination Chamber event on Saturday night, further fueling the trend.

White, who scored the game-winning goal for Vancouver against Los Angeles, acknowledged the reaction from fans in his post-game comments.

“I would like to say thank you to the fans that cheered and clapped the anthem at the end and showed respect for the flag,” White said, according to Daily Hive Vancouver.

“Obviously, there’s issues. It’s not my business, and I’ll leave it at that.”
