Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made an energetic appearance at Texas Tech’s basketball game on Tuesday night, joining in on the excitement [1] after a Red Raiders fan nailed a 94-foot putt during an intermission contest.
Mahomes, who played college football at Texas Tech from 2014 to 2016, was courtside for the Red Raiders’ matchup against Houston.
During halftime, a fan lined up for the full-court putting challenge—a long shot contest commonly seen during college basketball intermissions.
The crowd watched in silence as the ball rolled steadily across the court before dropping into the hole, sending the arena into a frenzy.
Mahomes immediately ran onto the court to celebrate, meeting the fan for a jumping shoulder bump as the crowd roared in approval.
The fan’s prize for sinking the putt was a pair of Apple AirPods Max, which retail for $549, according to the school.
The highlight provided a moment of excitement in what turned out to be a tough night for Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders fell to Houston 69-61, missing an opportunity to complete the season sweep over their in-state rivals.
Mahomes attended the game with his wife, Brittany, in their home state of Texas, just over two weeks after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22.
