President Donald Trump signed an executive order this week prohibiting biological males from competing in women’s sports, a move that has received overwhelming support from the American public.
The signing ceremony, which featured female athletes standing alongside the president, quickly went viral, highlighting the growing national debate over transgender participation in women’s athletics.
Polling data consistently indicates that a vast majority of Americans oppose allowing biological males to compete against women in sports.
Even CNN’s senior data reporter, Harry Enten, acknowledged the stark reality of public opinion on the issue during a recent segment.

“There’s such a clear trend among the American public,” Enten stated, before breaking down recent polling numbers.
“So, transgender athletes in women’s sports: only 18 percent of the country says that they should be, in fact, allowed to participate in women’s sports. Compare this to the opposition, I mean, my goodness—79 percent,” Enten reported.
“You rarely get 79 percent of the country to agree on anything,” he added. “But they do, in fact, agree on the idea of opposing transgender female athletes in women’s sports.”
Enten also highlighted the growing trend in opposition to men competing in women’s sports, pointing out that in 2021, 62 percent of Americans opposed the idea.

The latest figures indicate that public sentiment has shifted even further in favor of protecting women’s sports.
“What we’re actually seeing is a trend on this particular issue, and it’s going in the direction of opposition,” Enten explained.
Trump's action to ban transgender women from women’s sports is probably the most popular thing he's ever done. Most Americans overall (79%), Dems (67%), indies (64%), & GOP (94%) agree with Trump. Moreover, the share who want the ban is up 17 pts (62% to 79%) since 2021. pic.twitter.com/dbVsZRvDNn

The discussion surrounding transgender athletes has been a contentious issue for years, with lawmakers and sports organizations divided on how to handle it.
Trump’s executive order follows a wave of state-level legislation that has sought to preserve women’s sports by preventing biological males from competing.

Trump’s executive action reinforces previous efforts by Republican-led states to push back against policies that allow men to compete in women’s sports.
Supporters argue that allowing biological males to compete in women’s athletics creates an unfair playing field, undermining opportunities for female athletes who have trained and competed under existing regulations.
The order is expected to face legal challenges from activist groups and Democratic lawmakers who have pushed for policies that allow transgender participation in women’s sports.
However, with polling showing that nearly 80 percent of Americans oppose such policies, Trump’s decision aligns with the prevailing public sentiment on the issue.
The signing ceremony, featuring young female athletes, underscored the administration’s position that protecting the integrity of women’s sports is a matter of fairness and common sense.
As the debate continues, the data suggests that the majority of the American public firmly backs Trump’s approach.

Transgenders in women’s sports should never have been an issue in the first place. This is the ‘tail-wagging-the-dog’ where a very small minority were able to control the overwhelming majority for political gain. I also blame all the sports organizations and educational institutions that caved to these idiotic demands. Shame on them. Thank God Trump got re-elected and brought some common sense back in to sports.
I am with you Jim, there isn’t an issue clearer. This issue has become so bazar I have watched discussions in congress where university lecturers are simply unwilling to admit to the obvious that there are only two genders. And these people are paid to educate the young. What a worry that is.
