A 78-year-old man shot and killed a 15-year-old boy who attempted to rob him outside his home in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The incident, captured on surveillance video, took place last Monday night and has since gone viral.

According to local reports from Page 12, the elderly man had just arrived home and was preparing to exit his white Toyota Hilux when a van pulled up beside him.

The footage shows the teenager jumping out of the vehicle before it even comes to a full stop, appearing to aim a handgun at the driver’s side door.

As the teen reaches for the door handle, the 78-year-old man pulls out a .357 Magnum pistol and fires at the suspect.

The teenager immediately drops to the ground, and the van speeds away from the scene.

The video shows the retiree firing another shot at the suspect on the ground before stepping out of his vehicle and firing twice more at the fleeing van.

Police stated that the retiree fired a total of five shots, striking the teenager in the skull and chest.

Investigators later determined that the suspect’s weapon was a fake gun designed to resemble a gray .22-caliber Bersa Thunder.

Local prosecutor Diego Rulli, who is overseeing the case, announced that no charges would be filed against the elderly man, as he acted in self-defense with a legally owned firearm.

Law enforcement officials are still searching for the other individuals who were inside the van at the time of the attempted robbery.

The Departmental Investigations Directorate has classified the case as an aggravated robbery committed by suspected gang members.

The shooting marks the second similar incident in Buenos Aires in January.

In a separate case, another minor was shot and killed after attempting to steal a motorcycle in the La Tablada neighborhood.

The case has sparked widespread discussion in Argentina about self-defense laws and rising crime rates, as residents continue to grapple with security concerns in the capital city.
