Award-winning journalist Chris Hansen, best known for his work on NBC’s *To Catch a Predator*, recently helped [1] expose two illegal aliens during a sting operation targeting child predators in Genesee County, Michigan.
The operation, conducted last week in partnership with local law enforcement and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), resulted in the arrest of two men from Honduras who were attempting to engage in illegal activities with a minor.
Hansen, who currently hosts *Takedown with Chris Hansen* on TruBlu, joined Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson’s “Ghost Team” for the operation.
Both suspects, identified as illegal aliens, were taken into custody after attempting to arrange meetings with a 15-year-old girl.
One of the suspects was caught on camera offering $50 for sex with the underage decoy.
During his confrontation with Hansen, the man admitted he was in the United States illegally and did not speak English. The second suspect, also an illegal alien from Honduras, confessed to his intentions but pleaded not to be deported after being confronted.
“You could go back to Honduras,” Hansen told the second man, who appeared distraught and denied committing the crime, despite incriminating text messages.
Hansen later recounted the operation during an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters, explaining that the two suspects had already been deported from the U.S. in the past but had reentered illegally.
“Two illegal Hondurans showed up in the same night among the other predators. Both had been in this country before, gotten kicked out, sneaked back in, and got arrested in this sting trying to have sex with a child,” Hansen said.
Sheriff Swanson confirmed that ICE promptly issued detainers for both suspects, with Hansen noting, “It’s the quickest they’ve ever seen this happen in the history of Genesee County.”

The sting operation comes as U.S. immigration authorities ramp up enforcement efforts under President Donald Trump’s second term.
Border Czar Tom Homan reported that 308 illegal aliens were detained and scheduled for deportation during the opening days of the new administration.
Homan emphasized that ICE’s renewed focus is on removing “public safety threats,” particularly individuals with criminal records, including those involved in violent or sexually-oriented crimes.
“And just yesterday, in the last 24 hours, ICE arrested over 308, 308 serious criminals. Some of them were murderers. Some of them were rapists. Some of them raped a child. Some were a sexual assault of a child,” Homan told Fox News. “So ICE is doing their job, and they’re prioritizing just as the president said they would.”

The arrests in Genesee County highlight the intersection of immigration enforcement and law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable populations.
Hansen’s work with local authorities reflects a broader push to address not only the immediate threats posed by predators but also the systemic issues surrounding illegal immigration and border security.
Jesse Watters commended Hansen for his efforts during their interview, stating, “You’ve done more than Biden’s ICE did in four years.”
As the Trump administration continues to prioritize public safety and border enforcement, operations like the one in Michigan demonstrate the importance of collaboration between federal and local authorities to combat crime and protect communities.
